National Identification Authority launches online Ghana Card replacement
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has launched a new online service allowing Ghanaians living abroad to replace lost or damaged Ghana Cards without traveling to the country. NIA Executive Secretary Wisdom Koku Deku announced that the replacement feature has been integrated into the Authority’s existing online application portal.
The digital service is currently available to citizens residing in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, and Denmark. Applicants can initiate the process via the NIA’s official portal.
Domestically, the replacement service has been extended to selected Prestige 24/7 Centres in Labone, Sakumono, Bantama, and Suame, with an Amakom centre expected to join the list soon. Individuals preferring in-person visits at Premium Centres can also use the online portal to start their applications. The NIA indicated that an update service will be added to the digital platform in the near future.
