National Innovation Agency CEO László Bódis to step down
László Bódis is stepping down from his position as CEO of the National Innovation Agency (NIÜ). The Ministry of Science and Technology announced that a call for applications will be issued to find a successor. Until a new leader is appointed, the ministry will oversee the agency’s professional management.
During a staff meeting, Péter Horváth, State Secretary for Science Policy and Innovation, detailed a new national science policy and innovation strategy. Under this new framework, the NIÜ will see an expansion of its responsibilities. In addition to supporting domestic startups and fostering cooperation between researchers, universities, and businesses, the agency will place a heightened emphasis on emerging technology sectors.
Specific areas of focus for the agency's expanded mandate include quantum technology, biotechnology, the space industry, and the drone industry. The NIÜ aims to support these sectors through advisory services, training, and mentoring to help transform new ideas into marketable products and services.
