National Institute for Sports and UNIBEN partner to train administrators

The National Institute for Sports (NIS) and the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have entered into a partnership to enhance professional training and capacity development in sports administration in Nigeria. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, aims to produce professionals capable of managing the country's sports sector.

The agreement includes National Diploma courses, certificate programs, and coaching programs. A significant component of the partnership is the launch of a degree program in Sports Administration at the University of Benin, providing an academic pathway for Nigerians pursuing careers in the sports industry.

NIS Director-General Philip Shaibu stated that the partnership is intended to bridge existing gaps in sports administration by equipping professionals with necessary management skills. He noted that the initiative aligns with the national development goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
