National Museum of Contemporary Art named European Art Museum Award finalist
The National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) has been named as one of the six finalists for the European Art Museum Award. This annual award, presented by the European Museum Academy, focuses on the social role of art museums and recognizes innovative practices and new ideas.
EMST joins a shortlist of distinguished institutions, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the FENIX Migration Museum in Rotterdam, and the National Gallery of Slovenia in Ljubljana.
Samuel Gallacher, President of the Award's Jury, stated that the committee seeks museums that go beyond superficial impressions to seek a “substantial and lasting connection with their audience.” He noted that the curatorial practices of the six shortlisted museums serve as a “standard of excellence” due to their relevance to contemporary societal issues.
