National Museum of History of Moldova restores Cucuteni pottery and historic textiles
Restorers at the National Museum of History of Moldova are undertaking extensive conservation work on several heritage items. Marina Guzun and Daniela Ferroni are reassembling and reintegrating the colour of a large Cucuteni culture storage vessel, rebuilding missing parts and preparing it for exhibition. Icon restorer Svetlana Lupașco is cleaning and repairing old religious icons, including an image of Saint Nicholas, documenting each stage with before‑and‑after photographs. Textile specialist Ecaterina Bondarenco is repairing dozens of historic carpets, shirts, traditional costumes and a rare 19th‑century wedding frame, removing decayed threads and restoring original patterns. The museum’s conservation team monitors all restored pieces continuously, intervening with further treatment as needed before returning them to display halls.
