National Museum of Korea investigates BLACKPINK anniversary event controversy
The 10th-anniversary celebration for K-pop group BLACKPINK has drawn scrutiny following a controversial meet-and-greet at the National Museum of Korea. The event, which was attended by the four members and 40 lottery-selected fans, has been criticized for its rushed organization and the impact it had on public access to the museum.
Complaints have been filed with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s audit office regarding the approval process for the event and the subsequent restriction of exhibition areas. Reports indicate that existing museum programs, such as an art workshop, were forced to change schedules due to the fan meeting. The audit office has designated an official to investigate the matter, with a response expected by the 19th. The investigation will determine if the event was a standard facility rental or a joint cultural project and whether administrative procedures were followed correctly.
In response to the backlash, BLACKPINK member Rosé released a statement expressing her disappointment and regret that the anniversary did not meet expectations. Member Jisoo also addressed the situation, apologizing for communication issues and explaining her emotional reaction during the event.
