National Museum of Lithuania to offer free admission at four sites
The National Museum of Lithuania has announced that four of its locations will offer free admission on 27 September 2026. This nationwide initiative invites the public to explore various historical and cultural sites across Vilnius, Palanga, Ožkabaliai, and Kudirkos Naumiestis.
The program features a diverse range of exhibitions, spanning from archaeology and the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to high technology, textile art, and audiovisual installations. In Vilnius, the House of Histories will present an ethnographic collection alongside “Trajectory of the Future: The History of Lithuania’s High-Tech Sector,” which covers biotechnology, laser research, space research, and the history of Lithuanian video games.
Other notable displays include the “Frequency of Freedom” exhibition at the Gediminas Castle Tower, which examines themes of resistance and collective action, and the “Understanding Lithuania” permanent exhibition at the Castellan’s House. The event also provides a final opportunity for visitors to view several temporary exhibitions before they close.
