National Museum of the Romanian Peasant celebrates 120th anniversary
The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant is hosting the 14th edition of the ‘Days of the Peasant Museum’ from September 9 to 20, 2026. The event marks two significant milestones: the 120th anniversary of the museum's founding and 30 years since receiving the European Museum of Contemporary Art (EMYA) award.
The anniversary program includes various exhibitions, such as ‘Furci de tors românești din Banat’, ‘ALB PE ALB’, and a retrospective titled ‘TESCANI 50’. The schedule also features the Bucharest Short Film Festival, film screenings, workshops, and debates. A new project, ‘Experimenting with the past. 120 years of heritage and reinvention’, is also being launched.
As part of the festivities, artist Lila Passima is presenting ‘NISCRIATI [nescrise]’, an experimental installation in the Irina Nicolau Hall. The work explores themes of trauma, exile, and memory, specifically focusing on the life and carceral experiences of cultural figure Lena Constante as part of Passima's doctoral research.
