National Narishakti protests rising crime in Dhaka
Members of National Narishakti, a women's organization under the National Citizens' Party (NCP), held a protest and human chain near the National Parliament Building in Dhaka to demand improved public safety.
Organizers expressed deep concern over a perceived rise in crimes, including muggings, extortion, drug use, and violence against women and children. Monira Sharmin, the convener of National Narishakti, criticized the BNP government, alleging that law and order have deteriorated significantly during its first six months in power.
Speakers specifically targeted the Home Minister, accusing him of being disconnected from the reality of citizens' suffering. They urged him to acknowledge the actual state of security on the streets rather than claiming improvements. The group also highlighted the impact of drug addiction on youth and the ongoing crises regarding essential services like gas and electricity.
