National Night Out events take place across U.S. communities on Aug 4, 2026
National Night Out, an annual community‑building campaign held on the first Tuesday of August, was celebrated on Aug 4, 2026 in dozens of U.S. towns and cities. Police departments from Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Nassau County, New York; Southwest Louisiana cities such as Lake Charles and Sulphur; Gloucester Township, New Jersey; Santa Ana, California; Naperville, Illinois; Valdosta, Georgia; South Brunswick, New Jersey; Garrett County, Maryland; Evanston, Illinois; Falls Township, Pennsylvania; Casper, Wyoming; Santa Monica, California; the Bronx, New York; and Albuquerque, New Mexico, among many others, hosted free family‑friendly events.
The gatherings featured K‑9 and drone demonstrations, dunk‑tank contests, music, food, games, and information booths on crime prevention and community resources. Local officials highlighted the event’s role in strengthening police‑community partnerships and noted positive trends, such as crime declines reported by the NYPD and a mid‑year crime report from the Naperville Police Department. Across the nation, the night served as a platform for residents to meet officers, discuss safety concerns, and build trust in a non‑emergency setting.
