National Night Out events planned in Lufkin and Simpsonville

National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign designed to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement and residents, is being organized in multiple locations.

In Lufkin, the event will take place on October 6 at Cotton Square in Downtown Lufkin. The festivities will include live music, access to police and fire department equipment, and activities such as fire safety demonstrations. The Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter will also participate with pets available for adoption. Local businesses and organizations are expected to provide food, drinks, and various games.

In Simpsonville, the police department is preparing for its National Night Out celebration at Heritage Park. The department is currently seeking local business sponsors to help fund the festival-style event, which aims to foster neighborhood camaraderie and connect residents with first responders through educational exhibits and health resources.
