National Night Out scheduled Aug 4 in Yakima Valley, WA and Homer, AK
Communities across the United States will hold National Night Out events on Tuesday, August 4. In Washington's Yakima Valley, dozens of neighborhoods are planning block parties and activities, including Christ Lutheran Church in Yakima, Louden Park in Union Gap, Wixson Park in Selah, and several other parks in Toppenish, Sunnyside, Granger, Grandview and more. The events feature food, music, games and an opportunity for residents to meet local police officers.
In Homer, Alaska, the Village of Homer will host its fourth annual National Night Out from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Village Green and South Main Street. Police Chief Bob Pitman said the evening will include participation from nearby fire departments, the county health department, the sheriff’s office with its Operation Safe Child ID program, face‑painting, a patch‑design contest and the popular rascal race. The goal is to strengthen relationships between community members and first‑responders.
