National Oncology Congress held in Poiana Brașov

The National Oncology Congress, organized by the National Society of Medical Oncology of Romania, took place in Poiana Brașov from October 8–10. The event brought together over 1,500 oncologists to discuss modern therapies and prevention strategies.

Medical experts highlighted that while Romania has made progress in cancer diagnosis and treatment, there is a critical need for increased screening programs, healthier lifestyle campaigns, and stricter anti-smoking policies. Discussions also addressed the gap in access to new therapies compared to other nations, though improvements in clinical trial access have been noted.

During the congress, it was officially announced that Oradea will host the 2032 annual meeting of the European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society (EMSOS). This marks the first time this major international scientific event dedicated to bone and soft tissue tumors will be held in Romania, aiming to strengthen the connection between Romanian medical centers and the European oncology community.
