National Park Week 2026 marks major US anniversaries

National Park Week 2026 is being observed from August 22 to August 30. While the celebration typically occurs in April alongside Earth Day, the dates were moved this year to coincide with the 110th anniversary of the National Park Service and the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The National Park Service is using the milestone to provide various opportunities for education, inspiration, and enjoyment across the country’s national parks. In locations such as Glacier National Park, celebrations include waived park fees on certain days and activities such as guided walks, hiking, and wildlife viewing.
