National parks in Argentina and Chile implement new management and infrastructure updates

Authorities in Argentina and Chile are implementing new management strategies and infrastructure updates within their respective national parks.

In Argentina, the Los Alerces National Park is undergoing regulatory updates and infrastructure improvements. Interventor Ariel Rodríguez reported that training programs for tourism service providers and waste management are underway. Additionally, work is progressing on new balconies for the Cascada el Hacha trail to prepare for the upcoming season. The park is also set to host a national motorhome event from October 8 to 11 at the Los Maitenes campsite, expected to attract over 200 vehicles.

In Chile, the National Biodiversity and Protected Areas Service is preparing for the integration of Torres del Paine National Park. Director Tomás Saratscheff conducted field visits to identify resource gaps and critical processes ahead of the official transfer of administration from CONAF, scheduled for March 2027. The assessment focused on logistics, conservation, emergency response, and visitor services to ensure operational readiness for the high-traffic protected area.
