National People's Party organizes election preparations and academic recognition

The National People's Party (NPP) has announced key organizational moves in preparation for upcoming elections in Manipur. Rajya Sabha MP and NPP National Working President James P. K. Sangma has been appointed as the convenor of the Manipur Political and Election Coordination Committee. He will be supported by National General Secretary (Political) Mmhonlumo Kikon, who serves as co-convenor.

The committee is tasked with coordinating political, organizational, and electoral activities, including monitoring constituency-level preparedness and assessing prospective candidates. While the committee can make operational political decisions, major decisions regarding alliances and seat-sharing require approval from the national president.

In a separate event in Mylliem, NPP Working President Hamletson Dohling honored academic achievers at the 8th U Tirot Sing Syiem Academic Award 2026. During the ceremony, Dohling emphasized the importance of local youth pursuing civil service careers, noting a perceived decline in Khasi IAS officers since 2012. He encouraged students to utilize their time effectively to prepare for competitive examinations.
