The 95th National Ploughing Championships commenced in Screggan, attracting approximately 77,000 visitors on its first day. The event, which serves as a major gathering for Ireland’s farming and rural communities, was officially opened by President Catherine Connolly.

The championships feature a wide range of activities, including competitive ploughing across various classes, livestock exhibitions, and food competitions. The event also serves as a forum for discussing critical agricultural issues such as farm incomes, environmental policy, climate targets, and rural services.

In addition to agricultural competitions, the event highlighted technological innovation. The Manitou MLT 625 e battery-powered compact telehandler was named the 2026 Machine of the Year.
