National Police officers save man from cardiac arrest in Vigo
Two off-duty National Police officers from the Vigo-Redondela station successfully intervened to save a man who suffered a cardiac arrest near a hospitality establishment on Regueiro Street in Vigo.
Upon witnessing the emergency, one officer immediately began resuscitation maneuvers while his partner ran to the National Police Station on Álvaro Cunqueiro Street to retrieve an automated external defibrillator (AED). Other officers from the station also rushed to the scene to assist. Working alongside two nurses and a doctor who were already in the vicinity, the coordinated effort using the AED allowed the man to recover his pulse.
The intervention highlights the importance of specialized training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED usage provided to police officers, enabling rapid response before medical services arrive.
