National Police rescue choking man in Almería

National Police officers in Almería saved a man's life after he suffered a severe choking incident at his home on September 9. Upon receiving an emergency call via the 091 line, officers arrived at the eighth-floor residence to find the man on the floor, exhausted and showing signs of severe asphyxiation, including a bruised face.

The rescue was technically difficult due to the victim's physical build, exhaustion, and the fact that he had one leg amputated, which made it hard to position him for standard airway clearance maneuvers. Officers from the Citizen Security and Prevention and Reaction Units (UPR) worked together, rotating through chest compressions until medical services arrived.

The man successfully expelled two food fragments that were blocking his airway. After being stabilized with oxygen, he was transported to the Torrecárdenas University Hospital, where he recovered favorably and was placed out of danger.
