National Police Service unveils 2027 election preparedness plans

The National Police Service (NPS) in Kenya has initiated preparedness plans for the 2027 General Election following a three-day training session in Nakuru. The program, organized by International Justice Mission (IJM) Kenya and the Media Council of Kenya (MCK), focused on strengthening cooperation between police communication officials and journalists.

The training aimed to improve media-police relations and ensure the public receives timely, accurate, and factual information. Key topics included conflict-sensitive journalism, hate speech mitigation, digital information integrity, artificial intelligence, and journalist safety. Officials discussed how misinformation and inflammatory content can increase political tensions during election campaigns.
