National Police to Deploy 210 Officers in Roquetas de Mar, Spain

The Spanish National Police will establish a permanent presence in the coastal city of Roquetas de Mar with an initial contingent of 210 officers. The deployment follows a protocol signed by Director General Francisco Pardo Piqueras and mayor Gabriel Amat, which outlines cooperation between the police and the municipal government.

A temporary headquarters will be set up in a 600‑square‑metre building on Avenida de la Aduana, with an investment of €750,000 and an expected five‑month timeline to become fully operational. A second phase envisions a new purpose‑built station, shared with the local police, financed with more than €5 million from the central government.

Roquetas de Mar, home to over 115,000 residents (its population triples in summer), will benefit from 24‑hour complaint services, a family‑and‑women’s support unit, and an immigration office handling around 20,000 documents annually. Officials noted a decline in provincial crime, with total infractions down 11.74 % year‑to‑date.
