National Railway Museum hosts chamber music series
The National Railway Museum in Entroncamento is launching a chamber music series titled ‘Música no Museu’ (Music in the Museum). Running from September through November, the program is part of the celebrations marking 170 years of the railway in Portugal.
The concert cycle features various musical genres performed in unique settings within the museum's collection, such as the Food Warehouse, the Royal Train Room, and the Locomotive Rotunda. Performances include works by Carlos Seixas and Astor Piazzolla, jazz, classical, and traditional music from regions including Ireland and Brazil.
A highlight of the series will occur on October 31 with the premiere of ‘Pouca Terra’, an original composition created specifically to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the first train journey in Portugal. The concerts are scheduled for Saturdays at 15:30 and are included with the standard museum admission ticket.
