National Revenue Agency inspects meat warehouses in nationwide campaign
The National Revenue Agency (NAP) has launched a large-scale nationwide inspection campaign targeting the meat industry to combat tax evasion and unfair competition. The operation focuses on tracking the movement of meat and meat products from import and transport through to warehouses and retail outlets.
Since the beginning of September, inspectors have audited 40 warehouses and other facilities belonging to 10 different companies across Bulgaria. Key areas of focus included the Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Burgas, and Varna regions. Additionally, authorities inspected 228 heavy goods vehicles with a capacity exceeding 3.5 tons to ensure that declared transport data, including routes, loading points, and recipients, matches actual movements.
As a result of the inspections, 11 security measures were imposed on companies identified as exhibiting risky behavior, totaling approximately 78,000 euros. These measures are intended to guarantee the payment of due taxes and fees to the state budget.
