National Route 9 roadworks to begin in Gran Jujuy
Roadwork on National Route 9 in Gran Jujuy is set to begin this week as part of the Travesía Urbana project. The initiative aims to address historical traffic issues and improve public safety in an area noted for high accident and fatality rates.
The project spans approximately 5.6 kilometers, extending from the new bus terminal to the junction with Provincial Route 8. Planned infrastructure improvements include the construction of a dual carriageway, paved shoulders, a concrete central separator with integrated lighting, two lateral collector roads, and eight strategic connection nodes.
According to Alberto Siufi, Secretary of Communication and Open Government, the provincial government is proceeding with the works immediately, prioritizing public safety over legislative timelines. The first phase of construction will focus on connection nodes 7 and 8, covering the area from the Navea neighborhood to beyond the Los Alisos River.
