National Saemangeum Reclamation Museum hosts blue whale exhibition
The Korea Natural History Museum is hosting a special exhibition titled ‘Blue Deep Sea, Vanishing Blue Breath’ at the National Saemangeum Reclamation Museum from September 23 to October 28. The exhibition focuses on the life of a blue whale to illustrate the connections and cycles within marine ecosystems, as well as the values of environment and life.
Visitors can explore various marine life specimens and dioramas that demonstrate how ocean ecosystems are interconnected. The exhibition also highlights the relationship between blue whales, one of the largest animals on Earth, and marine carbon cycling. Beyond biological facts, the display aims to prompt reflection on how changes in marine ecosystems affect climate and human life.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism through the ‘Museum Ieum’ regional touring project, the event includes a local experiential program called ‘Climate Journey SAEMANGEUM.’ This program connects the exhibition's climate themes with the local culture and tourism resources of the Saemangeum reclamation area.
