National School and Kindergarten Chess Championships held in Katowice

The 11th edition of the Synerise National School and Kindergarten Chess Championships took place on October 27 at the Spodek arena in Katowice, Poland. The event featured over 1,000 young competitors from across the country, ranging from experienced players to children participating in large-scale tournaments for the first time.

Organizers Szymon Walter, representing the 64 POLA Foundation and UKS 21 Podlesie, noted the significant growth in the popularity of chess in Poland. Due to the high turnout, organizers expressed that the Spodek venue is becoming too small for the event, with future ambitions to host the competition at the PGE Narodowy stadium.

Sponsors for this year's championship included UNIMOT Group and PKO Bank Polski, with additional partners such as Helios cinema chain, Polimex Mostostal, and Żabka Group.
