United States expands renewable energy and research funding

The United States is seeing significant advancements in renewable energy infrastructure and scientific investment. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), battery storage usage in the U.S. has experienced a 70% annual growth rate, a trend expected to continue.

In California, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) reported record solar production of 23.49 GW and daily battery generation reaching 57.71 GWh. Similarly, Texas has expanded its solar capacity to 11 gigawatts, with large-scale storage capable of supplying 675,000 homes.

Complementing these infrastructure developments, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced $1.5 billion in funding across 12 new calls for research projects. This investment targets innovation in energy, environmental solutions, transportation, biology, artificial intelligence, and engineering to bolster national competitiveness and scientific employment.
