National Science Week 2026 to feature STEM programs across Australia

National Science Week 2026, themed “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All,” will run from August 15–23. The event features various educational programs across Australia, including virtual excursions for students and interactive exhibits at regional museums.

In Western Australia, Scitech will host a series of free daily virtual excursions via YouTube covering topics such as carnivorous plants, Indigenous fire practices, weather reporting, shark adaptations, and aerodynamics. The WA Museum is also hosting events, including a large interactive science day at Boola Bardip in Perth and activities at the WA Maritime Museum and the Museum of the Goldfields in Kalgoorlie.

Other highlights of the week include discussions on biomanufacturing in Sydney, where biotechnology entrepreneur George Peppou will discuss how cultivated-meat technology could transform drug manufacturing. Additionally, aerospace innovator Daniel Joinbee will share insights from his experience running Australia’s first 100% Aboriginal-owned aerospace consultancy. Other featured topics include quantum technology at the Qx Summit in Queensland and student-led flying taxi projects on the Sunshine Coast.
