National Shooting Sports Month receives support from governors and Congress
August marks National Shooting Sports Month, an initiative organized by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to promote community, mentorship, and safe firearm handling.
Various U.S. governors have issued official proclamations recognizing the month. Notable supporters include the governors of Kansas, South Dakota, Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, North Dakota, Georgia, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia. These proclamations highlight how shooting sports support local businesses, create jobs, and contribute to the national conservation system.
In Congress, support has been expressed through legislative efforts, including a Senate resolution introduced by Senator Jim Risch to honor the contributions of small firearm manufacturers to the American economy and culture.
