National Sports Day celebrated by police and students in Malaysia

Various groups across Malaysia participated in National Sports Day celebrations to promote active lifestyles and physical health.

In Sabah, over 4,000 officers and personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) joined simultaneous celebrations across the state. Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun noted that the event involved all District Police Headquarters (IPD) and other centers. This year’s celebration featured a unified special uniform provided through welfare funds to symbolize unity. Dikun emphasized the necessity of maintaining physical fitness and monitoring Body Mass Index (BMI) to ensure officers can perform their duties effectively.

In Kuala Perlis, more than 500 teachers and students from the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) participated in activities including casual runs, sepak takraw, badminton, netball, football, traditional sports, and tug-of-war. IKBN Kuala Perlis Director Zaliha Abu Bakar stated the event aimed to foster sportsmanship and reduce the risk of chronic diseases through regular physical activity.
