The 107th National Sports Festival commenced in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, running from the 16th to the 22nd. This marks the first time the event has been hosted in Jeju in 12 years. Approximately 30,000 participants, including 20,000 athletes and 10,000 officials, are competing across 50 disciplines, including 49 official sports and one demonstration sport, Jiu-Jitsu.

The competition features numerous high-profile athletes who recently competed in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Notable participants include fencer Oh Sang-uk, archer Kim Woo-jin, and shooter Choo Ka-eun. The event is being held across 74 venues throughout Jeju, including the Jeju World Cup Stadium, which hosted the opening ceremony.

Regional delegations are aiming for high performance, with the Seoul team targeting overall victory in nine specific disciplines. The festival also highlights youth talent, with 234 student-athletes under the age of 18 participating in 32 different categories.
