National T Levels Week highlights technical education and industry partnerships

National T Levels Week is being observed to showcase the impact of technical qualifications on student progression into employment, apprenticeships, and higher education. T Levels are two-year qualifications, equivalent in size to three A Levels, combining classroom learning with a mandatory industry placement of at least 45 days.

In the 2025/26 academic year, over 27,000 young people began T Level courses. Data indicates that nearly 98% of students receiving results successfully completed their industry placements. Educational institutions, such as Peterborough College and Stamford College, are offering pathways in sectors including health and science, digital software development, engineering, construction, and business.

Industry partners, such as Wates, have noted the importance of high-quality placements in addressing labor shortages. In the construction sector specifically, the industry is projected to require approximately 48,000 additional workers annually until 2029, making the connection between technical education and professional employment a critical priority.
