National Testing Agency clarifies answer key challenge fees

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a clarification regarding the fees associated with challenging provisional answer keys for major examinations such as JEE Main, NEET, and UGC NET. Addressing concerns raised on social media about high costs, the agency stated that the ₹200 fee per question is intended to prevent frivolous or false objections rather than to generate revenue.

The NTA emphasized that the system is designed to benefit all candidates. If a student successfully challenges a question and subject matter experts validate the objection, the revised answer key is applied to every student who took that specific exam. Furthermore, the agency noted that the ₹200 fee is refunded to the candidate if their objection is found to be correct.

The agency encouraged students to use the transparent online process to report genuine errors, asserting that a single successful challenge can improve the results for millions of examinees.
