NTA seeks government institutions to host computer-based NEET-UG exams

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is preparing to transition the NEET-UG entrance examination from a pen-and-paper format to a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, starting in 2027. This shift follows previous controversies regarding paper leaks.

To facilitate this transition, the NTA has requested the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to survey government-approved technical and management institutions across India. The goal is to identify suitable locations for Standard Testing Centres (STCs) to ensure a wide and geographically distributed network, reducing the need for students to travel long distances.

AICTE has directed affiliated government engineering colleges, polytechnics, and university departments to submit detailed information regarding their IT infrastructure. Required data includes the number of functional computers, internet connectivity, power backup capabilities, CCTV security, and available vacant space. Institutions must provide verified and accurate details to assist in the assessment of these potential testing hubs.
