National Theatre Brno unveils summer ballet and starts major renovations

The National Theatre Brno will present an open‑air production of the ballet Romeo and Juliet on the Biskupský dvoř from July 16 to 19. The performances feature three different casts, choreography by artistic director Mária Radačovský and direction by Martin Glaser, and include guest soloist Ksenia Ovsyanick.

At the same time, the theatre is carrying out extensive renovation work across all its historic buildings. The project, worth 6.15 million CZK and awarded to Pyrhura s.r.o., includes façade restoration of the Mahen Theatre, replacement of fire‑alarm systems, installation of 127 new triple‑glazed windows, and a redesign of the customer centre to improve visitor experience. The works are scheduled to be completed before the 2026/2027 season.
