National Theatre Live to release ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ in Japan

National Theatre Live (NTLive) will release its 2026 production of ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ in Japanese cinemas starting October 16. The production, directed by Marianne Elliott, features performances by Lesley Manville and Aidan Turner.

To commemorate the release, a special talk event will be held on October 16 at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, featuring stage director Tomoya Kiriyama and translator Shoko Kashiwagi. The play, adapted by Christopher Hampton from the work of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, follows the psychological games and destructive romantic pursuits of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont within aristocratic society.

The limited one-week screening will take place at various locations across Japan, including TOHO Cinemas Hibiya, TOHO Cinemas LaLaport Yokohama, Sapporo Cinema Frontier, Midland Square Cinema, Osaka Station City Cinema, Kumamoto Piccadilly, and Gardens Cinema. Additional screenings are scheduled for November 1 and November 7.
