National Theatre Sarajevo to premiere ‘Sarajevski trgovac’

The National Theatre Sarajevo will host the premiere of ‘Sarajevski trgovac’ (The Sarajevo Merchant) on October 12. Written by Igor Štiks and directed by Michal Dočekal, the play was specifically composed for the venue.

The production explores the intersection of historical circumstances, human destiny, and the origins of theatrical life in Sarajevo. It centers on the Haggadah and the individuals who risked their lives to preserve it, while also examining characters whose lives are intertwined with the development of Sarajevo's theater scene. The narrative raises themes regarding art, courage, and the commitment to one's beliefs.

The cast features a large ensemble including Faruk Hajdarević, Nerman Mahmutović, Mirvad Kurić, and Mona Muratović, among others. Tickets are available through the National Theatre's official website, the karter.ba platform, and the theater box office.
