National Turf Writers and Broadcasters announces annual award winners

The National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB) has announced the honorees for its 66th Annual Awards Dinner, scheduled for October 28 in Lexington, Kentucky. The event serves as the organization's primary fundraiser, with proceeds supporting Thoroughbred industry charities and journalism internships.

Team Golden Tempo, the group behind the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner, will receive the Mr. Fitz Award for embodying the spirit of racing. Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez will be presented with the Joe Palmer Award for his service to horse racing.

Other recipients include the late turf writer Mary Rampellini, who will be posthumously honored with the Walter Haight Award for career excellence. The TVG and FanDuel Racing broadcast team will receive the Jim McKay Award for excellence in broadcasting. Additionally, Stable Recovery, an organization assisting individuals with substance abuse recovery within the Thoroughbred industry, will be honored with the Bill Mooney Award.
