National Unity Party announces 18 mayoral candidates

The National Unity Party (UBP) has officially announced its 18 mayoral candidates for the upcoming local elections scheduled for December 6. The candidates were approved by unanimous vote during a Party Assembly meeting led by UBP Chairman and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

During the announcement, Üstel emphasized a platform of service-oriented municipalism, contrasting it with what he termed “cosmetic municipalism.” He highlighted the party's previous investments in infrastructure, including airports, hospitals, roads, electricity, and fiber optics, asserting that the party focuses on tangible projects rather than rhetoric.

Üstel also addressed criticisms from other mayors, claiming they attempt to take credit for infrastructure projects actually completed by the UBP government. Additionally, Zerrin Üstel noted the significant role of women's branches in the party's field activities across various regions, including Girne, Iskele, Gazimağusa, Lefkoşa, and Lefke.
