National Vaccination Data Breach Exposes 132,000 Mothers and Infants

A significant data breach involving the National Vaccination Information Data System has exposed the personal information of over 132,000 mothers and newborns. The leaked data includes full names, dates of birth, citizen identification numbers, addresses, and phone numbers.

Police investigations revealed that the data was being used by unauthorized individuals to target new mothers with unsolicited calls and messages for postpartum services, such as vaccination and childcare. Authorities in Bac Ninh Province arrested a former vaccination consultant from a facility in Hanoi who admitted to extracting and selling data categorized by province on social media.

Further investigation identified Mac Thi Ngoc Anh, a former employee of a vaccination center in Hai Phong, who continued to use her previous credentials to access the system after leaving her job. The illicit sale of this information reportedly generated over 530 million VND in illegal profits.
