National Walking Day 2026 to take place across Italy

The National Walking Day 2026, promoted by FederTrek, is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11. The initiative aims to promote a culture of walking to improve quality of life, foster social connections, and support environmental sustainability by reducing vehicle reliance.

Across Italy, various free activities are planned, including urban trekking, park walks, and excursions through small villages and internal areas. Specific highlighted events include a walking tour of Rome's GRAB (Grande Raccordo Anulare delle Bici) route on Sunday, October 11, and an excursion in the Abruzzo Apennines from Santo Stefano di Sessanio to the Rocca Calascio castle, following ancient transhumance paths.

The event is designed to be accessible to the general public, including those who are not experienced hikers.
