Natnael Tesfatsion extends Movistar Team contract through 2028

Eritrean cyclist Natnael Tesfatsion has signed a contract extension with the Movistar Team, securing his position with the Spanish WorldTour squad through the end of the 2028 season.

Since joining the team in 2025, Tesfatsion has shown significant progression, particularly during the 2026 season. His recent achievements include stage victories at the 4 Jours de Dunkerque and the Circuito de Getxo. He also secured a second-place overall finish at the 4 Jours de Dunkerque and sixth place at the Deutschland Tour.

Tesfatsion is noted for his ability to handle short, explosive climbs while maintaining enough speed to compete in reduced group finishes. This profile has allowed him to achieve high rankings in UCI WorldTour one-day races, including fifth place at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and seventh at Eschborn-Frankfurt.

Upon confirming the renewal, Tesfatsion stated, “A new chapter, in the same home. I’m very happy to renew my contract and continue representing this team.”
