NATO Ankara Summit Sets Course for Digital Interoperability and Women‑Peace Agenda

At the NATO summit in Ankara, member states agreed to develop a shared digital arsenal that includes drones, a warfighting cloud, and AI‑driven command‑and‑control systems. The declaration emphasizes interoperability across allied forces to overcome the fragmented architectures currently used by many European militaries. A key focus is the adoption of a unified architecture, exemplified by Ukraine’s Delta system, to enable rapid coordination of sensors, weapons and units.

The summit also reaffirmed NATO’s commitment to the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, pledging to embed gender‑responsive leadership and humanitarian considerations into its security framework. Organizers highlighted the tension between this commitment and recent democratic backsliding in Turkey, noting the need for heads of state to translate summit discussions into concrete actions beyond the conference room.
