Putin warns of using all weapons if Russia or Kaliningrad is attacked

During the Valdai Discussion Club forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued several warnings regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and tensions with NATO. Putin ruled out a ceasefire concerning long-range strikes, noting that attacks on Russian oil refineries have already cost the country approximately 1 percent of its GDP. He emphasized that Russia would respond to any direct aggression against its territory, specifically mentioning the Kaliningrad exclave, by using ‘all the weapons’ available to the nation.

In response to these warnings, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and spokesperson Allison Hart affirmed that the alliance is a defensive organization capable of protecting every inch of its member territory. NATO characterized Russia’s recent communications and hybrid tactics as ‘desperation’ and rejected the use of nuclear rhetoric.

Additionally, Putin accused Western leaders of creating a ‘new Iron Curtain’ to isolate Russia and criticized the militarization of Europe. He stated that while Russia has no intention of attacking European countries in the near future, it remains prepared to defend itself. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned of increasing hybrid threats and emphasized Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine through its most difficult winter.
