NATO deploys electronic warfare aircraft near Kaliningrad

NATO has launched a major aerial operation near the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, involving a diverse array of reconnaissance and combat assets. The mission includes the first operational deployment of the US Air Force EA-37B Compass Call, an advanced electromagnetic attack aircraft designed to detect, characterize, and disrupt enemy communications and electronic systems.

The operation features several high-capability platforms, including F-35 fighter jets, Boeing E-3A Sentry AWACS aircraft for early warning and air control, and Bombardier ARTEMIS II reconnaissance aircraft. These assets have been operating in the Baltic Sea region, utilizing airspace from Poland and Lithuania, as well as neutral waters.

This deployment follows recent Russian naval movements in the Baltic, including the presence of the Admiral Kasatonov frigate, which is equipped with Kalibr and Zircon hypersonic missiles. The NATO mission represents a significant demonstration of electronic warfare and surveillance capabilities in response to increased military activity in the region.
