NATO military leaders meet to address Russian hybrid threats

NATO senior military leaders are meeting in Denmark to address increasing Russian hybrid threats and provocations. The discussions follow previous commitments to increase European defense spending and strengthen the defense industrial base to counter evolving warfare technologies, particularly regarding drones and hybrid tactics.

Security concerns have intensified on NATO’s eastern flank. Poland has warned of potential Russian drone strikes, and a NATO jet in Lithuania recently shot down a drone believed to have originated from Belarus. Additionally, Denmark reported an incident involving Russian flares from a warship fired near a helicopter.

Internal alliance cohesion is facing pressure. While the United States considers reducing its troop presence in Europe, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has expressed reluctance to involve his country in military conflicts under NATO’s Article 5, stating he will work to ensure Slovakia is not dragged into such confrontations.
