NATO multinational brigade begins Resolute Reforger 2026 exercises in Latvia
The NATO multinational brigade in Latvia has launched ‘Resolute Reforger 2026’, its largest force deployment exercise to date. Running from late October through November 8, the maneuvers involve approximately 3,000 soldiers and 1,000 units of military equipment.
From October 26 to November 2, troops and heavy machinery will move via roads and railways from the Ādaži and Ceri military bases to training sites in eastern Latvia. Participating regions include Ogres, Jēkabpils, Aizkraukles, Daugavpils, Alūksnes, Balvu, Gulbenes, Madonas, Rēzeknes, and Augšdaugavas municipalities.
The primary objective is to test the brigade's ability to deploy, supply, and coordinate units over long distances while maintaining effective command, control, and communications in field conditions. The exercises also emphasize integration with Latvian National Armed Forces and civilian cooperation. Observers may also see Canadian Armed Forces CH-146 ‘Griffon’ helicopters during the operations.
