NATO SACEUR Alexus Grynkewich meets Balkan defence leaders on cooperation and modernization

Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Alexus G. Grynkewich visited North Macedonia and Montenegro to discuss NATO‑related defence cooperation. In Skopje he met Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski and Army Chief General‑Major Sasho Lafčiski, praising the Macedonian army’s contribution to the Alliance’s eastern flank and outlining further investment in modernisation, equipment and the Light Infantry Battalion Group now rated combat‑ready. The visit also included talks with Prime Minister Christian Mitskovski and President Gordana Siljanovska‑Davkova about Macedonia’s strategic role as a transport‑corridor hub.

In Montenegro, General Grynkewich met the Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier‑General Miodrag Vuksanović, reviewing the regional security environment and Montenegro’s ongoing efforts to improve interoperability, capacity and contribution to NATO missions. Both meetings underscored the allies’ commitment to collective defence, deterrence and regional stability under NATO’s "NATO 3.0" framework.
