NATO's Mark Rutte acknowledges impact of prolonged Ukraine conflict
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has acknowledged that the prolonged conflict in Ukraine is impacting Western nations. Responding to inquiries regarding potential fatigue within NATO, Rutte stated, “It is lasting a long time and, of course, in itself, leaves consequences.”
Despite these challenges, Rutte noted that Europe, Canada, and the United States maintain the view that support for Kyiv must continue. He indicated that Western efforts are focused on strengthening Ukraine's position ahead of potential negotiations.
In contrast, Russian officials have commented on the situation. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov suggested that some European countries are working to suppress Western fatigue regarding Ukraine, while Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, characterized Western support as a “ritual” performed by sponsors who are weary of the topic.
