Natura mineral water batch cleared of corrosive substance in tests

Tests conducted by the State Veterinary and Food Administration (ŠVPS) of the Slovak Republic have confirmed that a specific batch of Natura mineral water meets legislative requirements and does not contain corrosive substances.

The investigation follows an incident on September 11, 2026, where a minor experienced health difficulties after consuming a 500ml bottle of Natura spring water. Initial laboratory testing by the Public Health Authority of the Slovak Republic indicated a high pH level of 14, suggesting the presence of a highly alkaline corrosive substance.

While the specific batch tested by ŠVPS was found to be safe, criminal proceedings are ongoing to determine if contamination occurred during production, distribution, storage, or sale. Inspections were carried out by regional food administrations in Slovakia and the State Agricultural and Food Inspection in the Czech Republic.
